From the director of The Pursuit of Happyness, Gabriele Muccino, comes Summertime; a gorgeous coming-of-age drama following two Italian teens in San Francisco where they meet a gay couple who take them in and show them around the city. The four become friends, and embark on enthusiastic explorations of love, life, and themselves across one unforgettable summer.
Marco (Brando Pacitto, The Red Band Society), has just finished high school and has no idea what to do with his life, so delays the inevitable choices by booking a trip to San Francisco. Boarding the flight, he's horrified to find himself seated alongside Maria (Matilda Lutz, Rings), a snobbish classmate he can’t stand. In San Francisco, they meet Matt (Taylor Frey, Gossip Girl) and Paul (Joseph Haro, Glee). Marco finds the pair fascinating, while narrow-minded Maria is disapproving. But when the duo begins to explain the tumultuous story of how they met, in the puritanical American South, Maria’s world begins to open.
The film flows effortlessly between its central love stories – an honestly sensual film telling the story of four young things indulging the summertime high of being eager and beautiful and alive.
